Blotter 07-20-06

7/1/06 Arrested James Haynes, 54, Vernonia for Arson, Aggravated Animal Abuse, Reckless Burning, Reckless Endangering, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, & Menacing in the 1100 Blk Riverside Dr. After officers contacted Haynes he armed himself with a sword and barricaded himself in a residence. Haynes then set fire to the residence and refused to come out. Haynes succumbed to the smoke and was pulled from the house by officers. Vernonia Fire Dept. put the fire out. Two dogs died as a result of the fire. Haynes was taken to Tuality Hospital and was later taken to the CCSO Jail. The American Red Cross is providing assistance the rest of the family who was displaced by the subsequent fire damage. 7/3/06 Cited Nathan Riley, 21, Vernonia for Criminal Mischief in the 800 Blk Alabama Ave. after damage was done with a vehicle. 7/6/06 Criminal Mischief/Theft to the deposit box at Airport Park. No suspects. 7/7/06 Arson fire in dumpster at Senior Center. No suspects. 7/7/06 Assisted Hillsboro Police with an accident investigation in the 800 Blk E. Alabama. 7/10/06 Conducted a death investigation in the 1100 Blk Cougar St. 7/12/06 Report of a lost or stolen cash bag in the 700 Blk Jefferson Ave. 7/12/06 Put a Police Officer Hold on a female subject in the 900 Blk Madison Ave. Taken to Emanuel Hospital. 7/13/06 Cited Mark Akers, 56, Vernonia for No Operators License & Driving Uninsured near Rose Ave. & Maple St. Akers vehicle was impounded. 7/14/06 Assisted the CCSO on a DUII arrest of Nathan Riley, 21, Vernonia near State Ave. & Stoney Point Rd.
