Bike Safety at Slugfest 2007
The Vernonia Police Department was invited to particpate in the Slugfest 2007, a
baseball fundraiser for youth baseball in Vernonia. Chief Workman and the Vernonia
Middle School 8th Grade Leadership Students helped man a bicycle safety booth from
10am until 3pm at Spencer Park.

The booth provided lots of bicycle safety literature, information, free items and
several raffle prizes. The Vernonia Police Department provided around 30 bicycle
helmets to youth who needed them.

The Vernonia Police Department also provided the use of the Traffic Radar Reader
Board so participants could see how fast they were throwing the baseball. A good time
was had by all as evidenced by the photos below!
