Chief's Message

Background: Chief Workman started with the Vernonia Police Department on May 1, 2004 after serving the City of Hastings, Nebraska Police for 13 years. Chief Workman holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska and a Masters Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix where he is currently teaching in the Criminal Justice Department. Chief Workman has had extensive training in several areas of law enforcement and has implemented numerous projects for the Vernonia Police Department and the community of Vernonia. Chief Workman, his wife Tess, daughter Bethany, and son Brenton are happy to call Vernonia home.   Message: The City of Vernonia has a long standing history and a heritage that the citizens work hard to preserve and keep alive for generations to come. The Vernonia Police Department has not only been a part of that heritage but an integral part of sustaining it. I am dedicated to keeping Vernonia safe and secure for its citizens and visitors. The only way the police department will be able to successfully accomplish this task is through a partnership with the citizens of Vernonia. Together we will keep our town safe for our children and make future generations look toward Vernonia as a place to raise their families.
