Jim Walters Retires

After over 35 years of law enforcement service to the Vernonia community, Officer Jim Walters has decided to hang up his badge. Officer Walters started at the Vernonia Police Department on October 1, 1982. Officer Walters served the City of Vernonia in the capacity of a Reserve Officer, Police Officer, K9 Officer, Police Sergeant, Detective, and even as the Chief of Police from 1993 to 2003. Officer Walters made a lasting impact on the City of Vernonia and was a well respected police officer and leader. Officer Walters will be greatly missed at the VPD but we wish him well in his future endeavors. On behalf of the City of Vernonia we want to say "Thank You Jim!"
