VPD Receives Two Grants
The Vernonia Police Department recently received three grants to help service.
The following is a brief description of the grants.

The first grant of $1000 came from City/County Insurance Services to help the
department establish a hearing conservation program to meet OSHA
requirements. The hearing conservation program is used to establish baseline
hearing tests for all officers and conduct annual hearing tests. The grant funds
will help pay for the tests, hearing protection, and education for all officers.

The second grant came from RadioShack Corporation in the amount of $500.
This grant was part of the RadioShack Neighborhood Answers program that
provides funds to combat family violence/abuse and/or child abduction. The
VPD will use the funds to help purchase a computer projector. The projector will
be used to present information to the public regarding an upcoming program
called The
Family Internet Safety Program. The FISP will be used to educate
families about the dangers of child exploitation/abduction using the internet.
