K9 Donations Surge
With Help from Citizens and The Lions Club
Ever since announcing to the public that the Vernonia Police K9 (Officer Krueger) was in need
of a ballistic vest and other equipment which had not been budgeted for, the response has been
tremendous. Many people have made donations to the program through the donation can at
City Hall while others have personally brought donations to the station or given them to Officer
Kay and Krueger themselves.

One family exchanged their aluminum cans for the deposit money then donated it to the Officer
Krueger. Other donations have been received as well. Creatures Pet Store donated food for
Krueger for the life of the K9 Program. Gardner Feed & Seed also donated food for Krueger to
eat and believe me, this K9 can eat.

Two donations in particular helped propel the drive that has made it possible for the department
to purchase a high-end ballist vest for Krueger. One donations was for $300 and I we will wait to
see if they want to be identified and the other donation was for $1000 from the
Vernonia Lions
Club
. The addition of these two donations will allow the department to purchase a vest that will
not only help protect him from bullets but stabbing injuries as well. Thank you for these generous
donations and for all of the things that the Vernonia Lion's Club does for this community!

We are still accepting donations as there is other equipment that will need to be replaced or
purchased to keep both Krueger and Officer Kay safe and efficient.
