National Child Safety Council
The National Child Safety Council (NCSC) is an non-profit organization that partners with Law
Enforcement agencies to provide information on various topics for children, teenagers, and
even seniors. The NCSC uses funds donated from the community to print the workbooks and
magazines that are distributed by the police department.

The Vernonia Police Department became involved with the NCSC through Interim Chief Dale
Scobert. Chief Scobert had worked with NCSC representative Dave Thoreson both in
Junction City and in Sandy. The partnership Chief Scobert had with the NCSC was very
successful and made a very positive impact on the communities.

The Vernonia Police Department will be distributing the NCSC material during the first part of
the school year.

If you would like to make a donation for the NCSC material please call the police department
at 503-429-7335. Make all checks payable to the National Child Safety Council. Your donation
is tax deductible and you will receive a receipt.

If you would like a copy of the material, call or stop by the police station. Surplus will be limited
but we will provide you with what we can.
