The National Child Safety Council (NCSC) is a non-profit
organization that partners with law enforcement agencies to
provide information on various topics for children, teenagers,
and seniors. The NCSC uses funds donated from the community
to print workbooks and magazines for distribution by the local law
enforcement agencies.
Former Interim Chief Dale Scobert initiated the Vernonia Police
Department's NCSC program. Previously, Chief Scobert had
worked with NCSC representative Date Thoreson in both
Junction City and Sandy. These partnerships between the
NCSC and each community have had very positive results.
