Welcome to the Vernonia Police Department web-site.  Our
City and Department web-site offers visitors a wide range of
information from history and demographics, to river levels and
emergency preparedness.  The Vernonia community has much
to offer visitors traveling through the city, and the Vernonia
Police Department has provided law enforcement services since
1891. 

     It is a privilege to be the Police Chief in the wonderful
community of Vernonia.  Our mission statement, goals and
objectives are really about community and law enforcement
partnerships, in order to provide progressive and innovative
policing services.  The sworn and non-sworn people making up
the Vernonia Police Department strive to offer a wide range of
police services, and provide the highest levels of law
enforcement available within our fiscal and personnel limits. 
Our department is staffed by certified peace officers, along with volunteers from the community working to make a difference in Vernonia.

     The men and women of the Vernonia Police Department are the most visible branch of municipal government.  We take seriously our mandate to perform professionally as members of the law enforcement community by offering the following services; patrol, k-9 program, crime prevention materials, traffic awareness, reserve police officer opportunities, civilian volunteer assignment in administrative and emergency management preparedness, vacation home checks, and scheduled ride along with a police officer for an up close view of police work in Vernonia.

     Modern communities want neighborhoods that are safe, well maintained, and have a focus on livability.  With support from the staff and volunteers at the Vernonia Police Department, the City of Vernonia offers all of the above. 

     Police Officers across the nation work hard to maintain our way of living by risking their lives performing those sometimes necessary tasks that may or may not make front page news.  The reality is that law enforcement relies on public support to function in our communities.  I encourage residents to take an active part in reducing crime by reporting suspicious activities, vehicles, or persons, and consider forming local Neighborhood Watch Programs, or developing Emergency Management Teams to protect personal property and indirectly support limited city resources. 

     In closing, I am proud to be a member of a well respected Police Department that has community support, and whose sworn and non-sworn personnel give 100% to law enforcement in Vernonia.
